Should students be allowed to use cell phones in school?

I think children should be allowed to use phones in school for their safety.
Sometimes if they are not well they can call their parents and inform them.
If something happens to them then the school authorities won't take the blame too.
So they should allow the students to take cell phones to school.

The students should not be banned to use cell phone in my opinion because it is high technology era now. Although there are some policy of parliament banning them in order not to use cell phone, it sounds like impossible surely.
The teacher should not be banned them but should order them turn off the cell phone or use in vibrating mode instead.

Nowadays cell phones is essential for our life. I don't mind if my students
use cell phones in school but using the cell phones in my class or during
my teaching times to talk with someone or play game I can't accept these habits.
In the case of important calling the students can ask me for the permitting
then i'll let them go out and take a call.

For me, I think they are allowed to use cell phones in school.
They can use before they come into classroom or after class.
I think it's their rights to use them.
But in the classroom while teacher is teaching, they aren't allowed to use cell phones.
Because it disturbs the teacher and other students.
It also looks impolite that teachers teaching and students talk to the phones.
If they really have to talk to the phone, they can tell the teacher to go outside for talking.
I think it's ok to do this.

I think kids should be allowed to have cellphones at school, but they shouldn't be using them. All it does is just give students the temptation of calling/texting their friend during class and has the possibility of being stolen if it's a nice phone and the student is flashing it about, bragging. Anything that a student needs a phone for genuinely (such as calling a parent to come pick them up or whatnot) can be done using a phone in the school's office.

For my personal thought ,cell phones are the good way easily to contact everyone .
If you get on the bus, and it breaks down or something else happens, you have an easy way to call your parents. Same if it never shows up at school. (YES, our bus drivers have a cell phone, but it is extremely hard to get them when the something else happens as people who don't have their own fight for it. This is the main reason why my parents completely disagree with the cell phone policy, there has been several times where my dad had to track me down and was pretty unhappy about it.)
If a family emergency happens someone can text you to let you know what is going on.
If after school activities are cancelled you can call your parents.
