| Here are four symptoms of Internet addiction to watch out for: 1. Losing Time If you're constantly realizing that several hours have gone by in front of the computer and you haven't gotten anything productive done, you might have an addiction. Be honest and ask yourself what's eating up your time. If you were supposed to be getting tasks done for clients and instead you were earning "money" on FarmVille, it may be time to ask for help. 2. More Social Media, Less Social Life There have been reports of people getting into car crashes because they were updating their Facebook status on their smart phone while they were driving. If Facebook, Twitter and online chat rooms are taking up more and more of your time, and you're spending less time at real life social engagements, you might have an Internet addiction. Assess the amount of time that you used to spend going to parties or out on dates with your husband, the amount of fun activities you did with your children and other social engagements. Compare that to the amount of time you're spending "socializing" online and see if things have flip-flopped. 3. Real Relationships Suffering If your family is complaining that you spend less time with them than you used to, this can be another symptom of Internet addiction. If your spouse is bickering and feeling neglected, or you hear the phrase, "We never do anything fun anymore" from your children, it may be time to step back and analyze where your time is going. MySpace can be fulfilling in some ways, but the reality is that it's no replacement for being a wife or a mother. 4. Lying about Your Time Online This is one of the more serious symptoms of Internet addiction. If your spouse or children ask why work is taking you so long these days, and you lie to them when you were really doing something other than work, you may have a problem. People are often ashamed to admit to their compulsive online behaviors, and they become willing to lie to loved ones to cover it up. If this sounds like your situation, it's probably time to seek help. Being tucked away in an office provides anonymity for your activities, but you should realize that the dishonesty makes it inexcusable. These are just a few symptoms of Internet addiction to be aware of. Keep in mind that the time spent online isn't as important as the activities you're doing. If your activities are interfering with your relationships or work in the real world, it may be time to seek addiction help.

| When you don't feel to do anything except sitting in front of your PC or laptop all day all night. That means you're addicted to the internet already.

| You are less mobile or socially active than you once were. For example, you may be coping with a new disability that limits your ability to drive. Or you may be parenting very young children, which can make it hard to leave the house or connect with old friends. You are stressed. While some people use the Internet to relieve stress, it can have a counterproductive effect. The longer you spend online, the higher your stress levels will be.

| For me, I think we are getting addicted to internet when we feel whether bored or happy or every feeling, you will still surf the internet. Besides, if you suddenly go on the internet or your brain orders you what is going to do next after you have done everything, you are definitely addicted to the internet person.

| Here’s how to tell if you are an Internet addiction.
1. You’re spending more time online than with family or friends. Internet addicts will choose to spend time online rather than participate in social activities, says Bell. “I did an interview recently with someone who was into gaming online. He would spend over eight hours a day after work gaming and it was interfering with his social life,” she describes. If your Internet use is out of control, you may find that your family and friends question why you’re choosing the computer over them or express concern about the amount of time you’re spending online.
2. You’re neglecting yourself and your work. You don’t have to spend more than half your day online to be suffering the symptoms of an Internet addiction—it’s the way your Internet use negatively affects your life that determines whether or not you have a problem, notes Kimberly Young, a psychologist and director of the Center for Internet Addiction Recovery. If you find that your Internet use is causing you to neglect your health, your chores and your work, it may be time to seek help.
3. You’re using the Internet to alter your mood. "Those who are depressed are three times more likely to become hooked on the [Internet], those who suffer from anxiety disorders are twice as likely, and those who suffer from an addiction to alcohol and drugs are twice as likely,” says Young. Those that compulsively use the Internet may find that going online helps relieve the symptoms of a mood disorder—but the relief is short-lived. A study conducted by the Stanford Institute for the Quantitative Study of Society found that the more people used the Internet, the less time they spent in contact with real people, which could lead to loneliness and isolation.
4. You think about the Internet even when you’re not online. As with addictions to drugs or alcohol, Internet addicts are constantly searching for their next fix. If you’re preoccupied with your next purchase on eBay or tactics in an online game, you may have a problem.

| Addicted internet is spending hours and hours in front of the computer. Many people suffer from addiction to the internet and have a hard time paying attention to the important things around them.it is becoming more and more common and more and more well known. I think you should get involved with teams, clubs, sports, music, dancing, singing, etc. Go for a run with a friend or get exercise some other way. Go to bed on time and get a good night's rest. Keep up with the local events in your community. There may be talks, film screenings, concerts, local sporting events, and book signings etc. Find some, as long as it is not on the internet, and get involved. Moreover, completing your studies. If you are a student then do your homework and study. This is a great thing to do right away when you get home. You will feel great knowing that you did your homework early. Read books or research at the library instead of browsing Wikipedia for information. Teachers would rather have you use a real book than Wikipedia. Study lessons that you learned for the day, whether there's a test the next day or not.Hanging out with friends. Plan a trip to the bowling alley, mall, or ice rink. Get a friend to walk a dog with you for the afternoon. Avoid places that have free internet access such as coffee shops.About trying use the computer at the library. You won't be as tempted to look at certain websites and they do have a limit on how long you can stay online. Also, the library is a good place to get some good books and magazines to read, so you won't be as tempted to be on the Internet at home.
