Should schools give homework?

For me, Schools should be allowed to give homework. Homework is a vital tool to teach students time management skills, which is very important to have when you are in a professional work place. If you take homework out of schools you are doing a disservice to the students and are not doing everything possible to help prepare them for the real world.

Give some homework is a good way to practice the student in what field they have learnt.

Yes, Absolutely yes. Homework that teachers give students to do help them practice what they have learned.
When they do homework, they use and think of what they know and don't know.
They can find what they don't understand and come to ask the teacher next time.
To do homework help them not to forget the lesson.
And they can do it at home, they won't feel depressed because they can do whenever they want.
Some students can't do well in class because time is limited, they have to finish on time and their work aren't good.
If teacher let them do at home, they might do well.

Students should have a free time at home doing activities with family.

Most of the students especially Thai students spend most of the time at school.

When school is finished, they should have a relax time with family.

There is a research which said that homework doesn't make students smarter.

Giving homework to children enhances their capacity to understand the subject better....
Even if at school they are unable to comprehend something they can re read
that chapter again and ask questions....
Another principal cause for giving schoolwork is making students bemore aware of their learning.

Although homework can be good in many ways, it is also bad in my opinion.
For students who live in poverty or in low income it becomes hard to finish
or even start "homework" because most likely these students
tend to help their parents out or do jobs.

When giving homework, not only does it take away free time, but it puts pressure on students. Students tend to cheat if they have a lot of homework. If students are not assigned homework they have more control in what they do and study better. If a student cannot study good on his/her test then homework could be given to that person to help him review.

Sure! but you have think about how much homework you give to your student. You have to realize that the students don't study only in your subject. just keep in in mind.

I agree that teachers should give homework to their students in order to help them practice what they have learnt in school. Nowadays, it becomes a very hard trouble for Thai students thank to the fact that they study a lot of subjects at school per a day and every teacher give students their responsible -subject homework. Doing like that makes students stressful. They may not want to study that, maybe those, subject(s) anymore. They dislike doing homework, contrary to the teachers' objectives--helping students practice. In short, teachers should give homework to students but not too much, or else assign only the important parts for fear that the students deny doing homework.

Teachers give us homework so we have something to do instead of watching TV. Homework over the holidays is okay but I disagree with bombarding students with homework packages that take away family time. If you plan correctly then you can spend time with family and your homework.
