what is the importance of library?

With the advent of the digital age, numerous writers and even artists have given thought to what the future of the library will bring. Have you, as an architect, given any thought to how the digital era is changing libraries today — where certain functions within the library are seeming to fade away while other functions are becoming magnified as they are central to what will make libraries evermore important in the future? In a thought-provoking article that I recently read, written by Seth Godin and entitled The Future of the Library, Godin’s “take” on the library hits a core point as he explains… “[t]he librarian isn’t a clerk who happens to work at a library. A librarian is a data hound, a guide, a sherpa and a teacher. The librarian is the interface between reams of data and the untrained but motivated user”. And it is here where the importance of library rests, in what I call “sensemaking” — whether that be the “Seth Godin librarian”, or even the library architecture which may act as an extension to what the librarian, patrons and fostered information yield.

The library has many roles to play in today’s society and remains an important part to all of us, no matter our stage in life. To children, it’s a magical place, of learning and reading as well as talking and having fun. It’s a place for summer programs, for after school knowledge, for growing up and getting older.

it isnt of much importance to students in primary/elementary, middle and high (juniors) as all you need the library for is to borrow books for stuff like reading comprehension, but once you get into your senior year of high school and university (espiacially if you are doing one of the more complex subject e.g. history, medicine, physics etc.) it becomes of a far greater importance for you to use as they can be a far more reliable source of information then the internet.
ibrary is one of those places where you can start of a whole new life..a new world is opened for you..yeah in this age of IT it may sound absurd to go back to books.but hey nowadays you have digital libraries opening up.. a library will make you a better person overall..visit a library and go through the books and you will find yourself engrossed in books.

A library can be considered a store – house of knowledge. In dictionaries the word “library” has been defined as “a building or room containing a collection of books”. A library renders a great service to the society. There are a large number of Public Libraries maintained by the local authorities throughout the island.
A library plays a very important role in promoting the progress of knowledge. There are many people who love reading. But they can’t afford to buy books because the prices of books are very high. So when one becomes a member of a library, he can borrow valuable books. A member can borrow two books at a time and he can keep it with him for two weeks. Libraries are particularly useful for poor children. Even those who are better off can’t afford to buy all the books they require for their studies. For instance, invaluable books like Encyclopedias and large dictionaries cannot be purchased.

Or could say . The library allows students to learn the lessons of the classroom and outside of class . Search tools help teachers teaching them. Help students gain extensive knowledge of how to find and read . Allows students to spend their time usefully .
