Thinking this activity would be a great way to start a lesson, I began searching songs that had the language item my students were going to learn- namely, passive voice. It also had to be a song that they didn’t know by heart. Finally, after a long search, I found one by Miley Cyrus- “I can’t be tamed”. I also chose some pictures of her to display in class before setting the activity. I first displayed a picture of Miley’s eyes and asked who they though it could be with the purpose to generate some interest. Went on eliciting by giving some more cues.Once they found who it was, I asked whether they knew any songs of her. As my students are about 18-19, not many knew about her songs, which was good because otherwise the aim of the activity would be ruined. I had students do the fishing activity in groups of 3-4. I distributed the lyrics of the song from which I had taken out all the passive verbs and some active ones.
I then asked them to individually guess what the verbs could be to establish a need for listening.
